This book was an exhilarating wild ride. Pullman created such an extraordinary world in The Golden Compass that I got sucked in and did not want to put this down. Hugely creative, while the reading level makes it suitable for independent readers, it is filled with layers of meaning that make it both accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Each short story is a great little escape while riding the MUNI or taking a break from daily activities.
